Demand the Catholic Church change name of parish which has links to three paedophiles
Thousands of innocent children were preyed upon and sexually abused by Catholic priests across Australia in years gone by. Three of the most notorious were Gerald Ridsdale, who I wrote about in my book The Boy in the Presbytery, David Paul Ryan and Ronald Pickering.
After some of the abuse was laid bare at the Royal Commission into institutional abuse, the church promised to learn from the mistakes of its past. However, in another slap in the face to survivors and victims, a parish in south-west Victoria has been renamed Star of the Sea. Ridsdale, Ryan and Pickering all have links to parishes of the same name - with Ryan facing allegations of sexual abuse at Star of the Sea parish in Virginia Beach.
Survivors, their family and MP Stuart Grimley have implored the church to change the name. But the pleas have so far fallen on deaf ears.
Please sign my petition to prevent further pain to the survivors whose innocence was stolen by these despicable monsters.
