Don M started this petition to Pooler Georgia City Council

Provide citizen involvement in city decisions regarding tree removal inconsistent with an established City Ordinance of Pooler, Ga.

ARTICLE VI.I., of the Pooler City Ordinance requires the establishment of a Tree Board.  Currently there  is no provision for the City Council to abolish the Tree Board.

 The ordinance states:  “Sec. 42-208. - Created and established.
In order to preserve and conserve trees in the city in accordance with existing and future needs, the City of Pooler Tree Board, referred to in this article as the tree board, is created and established.

The tree board shall consist of five members, appointed by the city council, who have demonstrated an interest in the preservation and conservation of trees in the city. The five members shall consist of representatives from each of the following groups:

(1)  A public utility providing service within the city;

(2)  A representative of the city working in the zoning department working either in residential, commercial and/or industrial development;

(3)  A representative who is a landscape or forestry professional; and

(4)  Two members from the public at large.”

We petition the city to follow the City Ordinance, described above, and establish a tree board that reports to the city council.
