As a Senior High School student from FEU NRMF, I was concerned about the number of waste produced by our school, specifically during recess and lunch breaks; the meals bought at the canteen are always placed in disposable containers and disposable plastic utensils are always used. Plastic is very harmful to our environment, so as much as possible we should try to lessen its uses in order to avoid pollution, and to also lessen waste. By promoting the usage of reusable plates and metal utensils we can not only help the environment but also lessen our waste.

With the lessening of waste, we can maintain the landfills we have, and we can also decrease pollutants, as landfills are contributors to pollution. Think about it, it saves twice the amount of energy to recycle plastic than to burn it. Plastic also causes about 80% of the negative effects on animals associated with ocean trash.This is also cost efficient. Promoting zero waste or the usage of reusable plates and forks is only a small step, but it has great effects. 

It is our responsibility to take care of the Earth, because it is all we have. We must take care of everything in it, since we are also the ones benefiting from it. If we  don't do our part, we might not have anything left. (environmental ethics)
