Kathleen Senior High School needs a change, it can begin with administration reform, reform of enforcement on the dress code, and pull the school back up from being a D-ranked school. Kathleen High has been undergoing a lot of pressure and negative feed from the media and from recent events at the school. I write this petition of behalf of the Kathleen High students who want to see a change in their school and who want to see it get better. There must be changes made with administration, whereas there must be background checks on all the staff and all staff must be qualified for their said job. School dress code must also be enforced, the administration don't pay any mind to anyone out of dress code and this can create a problem that is not necessary. Within recent events, it has come to our attention of the background of Principal Jones and his past with Lakeland high, whereas he had relations with a minor. Along with recent events, police have been unnecessarily hostile towards students, whereas our protest turned into a riot, because an officer decided to pull a weapon out on an unarmed student, peacefully protesting. The treatment that we, the students, have been enduring from both administration and law enforcement has been concerning parents, school does not feel safe anymore within all the hostility. We, the students of Kathleen High, wish for Principal Daraford Jones, to step down from his position for the betterment of the school and for the safety of the students here.
