John Herbert started this petition to Politicians

Hi there, my name is Collene I am now 57 and have been living in a nursing home for the past 2 years. Unfortunately I have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis which has significantly deteriorated over the past year which means I CANNOT DO ANYTHING FOR MYSELF - not far from being a living vegetable. As I am unable to write,, let alone use a tablet my Father has put this petition together.

Despite the above I do NOT qualify for full health care funding! What planet are these people living on, to continue this system is inhuman, immoral and unjust and is totally outdated. The so called national framework is totally biased and based on ability to pay and has nothing to do with the well being or nursing care of any individual.

Adult social services and nursing care homes still operate third party payments forcing parents, relatives even friends to make regular monthly/weekly payments making up any shortfall of the fees required. It is time politicians stopped kicking this problem into the long grass and introduce a "one for all" fair social care system.

Currently it boils down to a post code lottery, with an individual's finances and assets, including property, taken into account. In my case this has cost in excess of £109, 0000 to date and my parents will shortly have to apply to the Adult Care Services for future funding. This is totally means tested and any state or private pension payments are taken away and an allowance of just £24.90 per week is allowed.

This is Great Britain, the 5th richest nation on the planet, which boasts a FREE NHS! What a joke! What an injustice! Yet we can give £14 billion away in aid!  Why are we still giving ex prime ministers up to £115,000 per year in expenses including Blair, Brown, Major, Cameron and May, all of whom are extremely rich and have no shame in claiming.
