Paul Pattison started this petition to Politicians and Media

Reality shows such as Married at First Sight turn Family Violence and Domestic Violence into entertainment. Morally and Socially this is irresponsible behaviour by Channel 9.

What shows will be next? Honeymoon  island? The Batchelor; The Bachelorette? Bachelor in Paradise? My Kitchen Rules?

In regard to MAFS Channel 9 should change the time slots and before any show is aired such   place warnings on the TV about sex; obscene language; the existence of family violence and domestic violence; infedelity; promiscuity and behaviour that may offend. At the end of show people needing support should be referred to Lifeline or Beyond Blue. This is already done when inferences or references are made to suicide.

I started this petition, because…
I am a mediator at the Melbourne Separation & Divorce Centre and constantly deal with victims of violence who are separating and divorcing.

Violence in any form can cause stress, anxiety;depression; self-destruction; mentap.m health issues; and sometimes suicide.

Shows such as MAFS open old wounds or give impression such behaviours are normal and acceptable.

What role models are our children and adolescents getting? How are the survivors of Violence feeling?

Why are shows such as MAFS being shown at times lots: mid afternoon, 7 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. and during school holidays where adolescents are unsupervised.

Family Violence and Domestic Violence is abhorrent and should not be tolerated.

As a community we should do our best to stamp it out.

Please give your support to this petition to bring about change to the Media Code of Conduct and to strengthen legislation to bring about penalties for non compliance by the media.Cheers
