Every election season in Trinidad and Tobago our communities are covered in posters and flyers from political parties seeking our votes on Election Day.

From lampposts to bridges, walls, telephone polls. It seems like every available surface is covered. After elections no one ever attempts to remove these. So for months afterwards  we can enjoy them as they visibly rot and decay, or go black with mildew everywhere. It’s almost like we have plastered our garbage at eye level throughout the country.

This practice is confusing as it’s is a visible eyesore and drags down the aesthetic value of our towns and cities. And we haven’t even begun to discuss other environmental considerations like the volumes of paper consumed with this practice.

In this great age of social media surely there is a another way to get your messages across without seemingly vandalizing the country in the process.
