Laura Jarvi started this petition to Political Leaders

While researching the realities of adolescent juvenile girls, our group of social work majors noticed the various injustices of basic rights that these girls are experiencing, such as human and social right violations. This includes lack of adequate health and mental health care, discrimination due to race, ethnicity, and gender, etc. These conditions and many others are contributing to the increase of young females being incarcerated due to the lack of true reformation and rehabilitation in facilities.

As a group, let’s come together and reinforce why our judicial system began – to enforce rehabilitation and better our society, rather than debilitate and isolate.

Let's make a difference and demand leaders to reform this system - we need to understand that our policies and mandates in place are not actually benefitting the target minorities, such as these young, struggling girls. It is not logical to expect behavioral change or success with a faulty system, so why don't we change what isn't working?
