Our colleague Michal Bilewicz's nomination to professorship is blocked by the President of Poland.

In 2018, the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles approved Bilewicz to receive the title of professor. In November 2018, the documents were sent to the Chancellery of the Polish President. However, they have not yet been accepted or signed.

This unprecedented time of withholding a signature gives rise to the suspicion that it is due to Bilewicz's work on prejudice and because antisemitism in Poland. Such a silencing of democratic and critical voices cannot happen in a democratic country and is at odds with the core values of the European Union.

Mr. President Duda, please finally sign the documents.
