Presently any offer letter from private companies job or MNCs, to citizens of India, provide details about the insurance coverage of the employee and its dependents. It just says that employer would provide coverage to employee for accidental, death and health insurance. However it doesn't share detailed insurance policy at the time of making offer to the employee.
This put employee under wrong impression that He and his dependents are fully covered under accidental, health and death insurance.
However real picture of above insurance coverage gets releazed by most of employees, when they actually get trapped in any medical emergency. At that time when they inquire from their Insurance companies through their employer HR, most the times they discover that the disease for which they are looking for insurance claim is not covered at all.
At this point of time even HR manager for most of these companies too show their helplessness by showing policy which they otherwise never disclose to employee before.
They play with words in given insurance policy (dirty tricks) to convince employee that disease for which He is looking for insurance is not covered at all.
Main reason for such helpless situation of employee is the absence of a clear, detailed transparent insurance policy from employer to employee at the time of job employment.
Employer renew agreements with their insurance TPA and insurance company time to time (mostly yearly). and during such renewal negotiations they forget employee interest and finalize deal with insurance companies providing then corporate insurance at least cost (by reducing coverage).
This is the grey area. As employee I should get policy under which I would be covered from my employer at the time of my joining or accepting the job offer. And employer need to ensure that policy remains same regardless of insurance company or TPA.
having fact that medical facility getting costlier day by day, So We need to come together, requesting all MNCs or private companies to share insurance policy applicable to us while making job offer. so that employee can compare offers, considering Insurance policy a very important part of his job offer.
And I request Govt of India to come with a mandatory basic insurance coverage policy which should be followed by all employers working out of India.
