Stop cycling on the pavement which is a danger to pedestrians.

Whilst I cycle myself , like most responsible cyclists and pedestrians, I want irresponsible cyclists to stop cycling on the pavement. Like many other pedestrians (including the elderly and parents with children) I have nearly been hit by cyclists on the pavement numerous times. When I`ve politely reminded irresponsbile cyclists that it`s illegal to cycle on the pavement some have responded by saying they were unaware of this, whilst others have responded by being aggressive and verbally abusive. Since there is no signage informing cyclists that it`s illegal to cycle on the pavement, and the police tend to turn a blind eye to the matter, is it any wonder that there is so much confusion around this issue? This petition is to lobby Edinburgh Council to put up signage throughout the city making it clear that cycling on the pavement (outwith designated areas) is illegal. This petition is also to lobby Police Scotland to be proacitve in cautioning cyclists posing a danger to pedestrians by illegally cycling on the pavement. In the interests of all pedestrians, including parents, children and the elderly (and responsible cyclists like myself who get a bad reputation) please sign this petition to encourage all cyclists to be responsible.
