Taking another’s life when there isn’t a completely valid defense as to why is unacceptable for a civilian and therefore even more unacceptable for our civil “protectors.” If we are to have justice in this country, we must act now. A police officer that uses lethal force on a civilian should promptly be stripped of rank, face psychiatric evaluation to determine whether or not they are sound of mind for trial. If they should be found to be sound of mind, any such officer should be tried as a civilian with no special privileges. Furthermore, cops who have used legitimately necessary lethal force should be evaluated based on whether or not they can make healthy decisions in service situations.
