Citizens in Greeley are requesting that body cameras be worn by police officers.

On May 8th 2018 a life was taken by the Greeley police Department. The circumstances surrounding the event seem excessive. This is a problem Greeley has been plagued with for years. To prevent future incidents like this, the Greeley Police Department needs to graduate and purchase body cameras to help capture vital evidence. Studies have shown that body cameras encourage officers to use less force and civilians to behave better. This can also improve officer/civilian safety and be used for training or public relation purposes. This is not an initiative against the Greeley Police Department but to help protect them and The citizens of Greeley. The previous response was that body cameras were too expensive and it wasn't "the right time". We believe now is the time!
