Misty was a truly moving character on Pokèmon. She defied the stereotypes of the time, as being both tough and also "in touch with her feminine side." Viewers have also dubbed her the "tomboyish mermaid" and was overall a great role model for girls, boys and everything in between, everywhere.

I personally saw Misty as a sort-of mentor to Ash at first, but soon became a great friend. The sort-of friend you make an effort to keep in touch with. The sort-of friend that always has your back. And I hate that they got rid of her to make room for new characters. 

Misty was very close to my heart and I'm sure she was close to yours too.
