Hi everyone,

It is amazing to see such an exceedingly positive response on the petition from you. We have reached over 11,000 supporters and hope this base grows over the next few weeks.

Some updates you might want to know are as follows:

1)    We are extending this petition to put forth not just the equality of all languages, but also to uphold the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (RPwD), 2016. This historic ratification aims to empower persons with disabilities, in whatever manifestation. Hence, we urge inclusivity of the people who are hard of hearing by adding subtitles or by making provisions for sign language usage during important political speeches.

2)   There is a wide misconception that India has a ‘National Language’. The Constitution of India does not give ANY language the status of National Language. We have two official languages; Hindi and English, and twenty- two scheduled languages. Therefore, we ask the Government of India to adopt a trilingual system by incorporating both the Official Languages as well as ensuring regional languages are utilised locally for all live/recorded political speeches.

Please sign and share the petition to endorse an Inclusive India.
