Include women empowerment through better work-from-home opportunities, as part of your Skill India commitment.
According to a 2013 World Bank study, only 27% of the adult female population is working in India. This is the lowest rate of women's participation in any workforce among the Brics (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries, with the highest in China at 64%.
Based on our research , about half of these working female population drop out after they become mothers, lack of proper day care and support from family , society and employers forces them to stay at home and puts them back by many years in terms of their ambitions and career growth. Defeated from all sides, most of these women never return to workforce, and those who do, are often treated unfairly, not given their right due, and mostly exploited when it comes to equal pay for their work.
With this petition QWEEN wants to highlight the plight of these women and also want to bring forth the options that these women could be given full support in starting their own businesses from home, or providing flexible work opportunities that can help them balance their families as well as career.
We request all the organisations and the government of India to support our initiative to provide meaningful work-from-home opportunities to the women of the country.
In the 70th year of India’s independence, QWEEN pledges to support empowerment of women from all sections of the society through work-from-home opportunities, and urges all women who have been through this and are looking out to change the situation to come forward and sign the petition to support the cause and help get their rightful dues.
