Privileges to income tax payers in India

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

After completing my studies, I got placed in a Multi-National company. It’s been 12 years I have been working in IT industry, earning handsomely but a good portion of my salary always goes as monthly income tax. Well, I do a lot of investment through NPS, MFs etc. however once the year end comes a major portion of my salary is still taken away by Income tax wondering what happens to this money which I and lakhs of people like me pays as income tax. As I started exploring I found this money gets spent on nation’s growth – building infrastructure, country’s defence, food & security for poor and various other scheme which Govt. runs are all supported by income tax payer’s money itself. I was proud on my contribution towards national growth and explored further and to my astonishment I found below data

According to data from Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) its only 1.7% of the population of 120 crore Indian who paid taxes in 2015-16. Salaried employees are the one who are most honest amongst all as organisation directly calculates tax and debits it from their respective salary. Even after paying taxes regularly & religiously and taking the burden of whole of nation, an income tax payer does not have any privileges to him/her.

I feel very bad & demeaning when reputed & rich people – like businessman, politician etc. gets all the privileges and treatments of a VIP in all the departments and services that too by the tax money paid by several people like me however, a normal & true tax payer is not eligible for any privileges, assistance or recognition. Isn’t it shameful? I am very happy to pay taxes to build our nation towards growth & prosperity where in with my contribution a poor & needy family gets food, security and other amenities. However, there should be respect, recognition & privileges to an income tax payer like me. Hence, I would like to dedicate my fight to every individual tax payer of our nation.

With this, I demand following privileges to a genuine income tax payer:

  1. Card based mechanism to distinguish & identify genuine income tax payers against which privileged services must be provided to them.
  2. Priority in hospital services to them & their dependants.
  3. Priority services and assistance in banks, railway stations and all other government institutions.
  4. Preference to tax payer’s children for admission in school/colleges.
  5. Rewards & recognition program at state/central level for genuine and consistent income tax payers.

This will not only bring respect & appreciation to people who are genuine income tax payers but will also motivate other people to pay their respective income taxes genuinely & get recognised.

If given an opportunity, I will be glad to sit with our respected Finance Minister and Honorable Prime Minister to make them understand the pain of a genuine tax payer and what respect does he demands from nation when he is happily contributing towards nation.
