It's about time to address this issue regarding the method of employment of dental post graduates in the Army Dental Corps and other government sectors.
Under graduates have to appear for an entrance examination to seek a seat in post graduation. After which the candidate is again compelled to appear for the same entrance examination after three years to seek a job.
There are three major issue which arise:
1.Why is it necessary to write the same exam in the same format twice? This simply abolishes the difference between an under graduate and a post graduate.
2.A post graduate is expected to know the core of a single subject. How is the same candidate expected to answer and qualify questions pertaining to other specialities in dentistry? In simpler words how can you judge a physician by his ability to perform a neurosurgery
3.It is disheartening to know that after struggling and studying for 10 years, the minimum wage for a post graduate in private sector is 15000 to 18000 INR. Certain cab drivers in metro cities earn a basic wage of 12000-15000 INR. This is the reason for the continuous downfall of this respectable profession and it is about time to set certain actions in motion to bring about a change.Because of this pathetic situation in private sector we seek government jobs;eg: Army,State public services. Here again because we face the same competition with under graduates, with no special consideration for post graduates;it demeans the whole purpose of pursuing a master's degree.
When a MBBS candidate can apply in the Indian Army by a walk-in interview, why do MDS candidates are made to appear for an entrance exam demeaning the professional degree of MDS.
Sir,this petition is to bring in notice of the concerned ministries and departments and to bring a change in the pattern of recruitment uplifting the whole profession
