Reduce Food Wastage in Corporate Companies

Food wastage is fast assuming serious dimensions. According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of UN, a staggering 1.3 billion tonnes of food is being wasted annually. The FAO report further states that one-third of the total global food production is wasted, costing the world economy about $750 billion or Rs 47 lakh crore. This alarming increase in food wastage is generating nearly 3.3 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, thereby severely impacting the environment. India is ahead of China food wastage.

We have many Corporate Companies, who are less willing to donate the surplus food to NGO's which collect the surplus food. The reason they give is "Company Policies", PM Modi ji, I appreciate your initiative to reduce food wastage and to add a limit on servings in restaurants. We need to apply similar norms on Companies, to not throw-off surplus food accumulated in companies, by either reducing the surplus amount or by engaging with an NGO to donate the surplus food. We see a lot of food being wasted unnecessarily in Companies, by the name of company policies. Then, why not, add a company policy as a part of CSR to reduce food wastage?
