Harvinder Kaur Chowdhury, Advocate Supreme Court began the Movement Ban Sikh Jokes in 1982. She started her journey against this mental atrocity against the Sikh community by starting surveys, doing research work, visiting schools, colleges, rural & urban areas, and finally she filed a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) "Harvinder Chowdhury vs. Union of India & Ors., Criminal Writ Petition no. 160 of 2015" against the portrayal of Sikhs as fools through Social Media, Sikh Centric Jokes, Cartoons, Funny Characters in films, Websites, poems in magazines, the narration of jokes in society, TV Serials, Making films in which Sikhs are shown as funny characters, Cyber Stalking, Cyber Bullying, Abuse, Physical Violence & Communal disharmony.

We are against the ridiculing environment through jokes, websites, films, serials, and its extreme spreading through CyberMedia. The entire Sikh population feels hurt as they are identifiable due to individual names of sick ethnicity and sick attire and this ridiculing projecting of the Sikh population in the following manner:

a. Gives a preset to a notion in the minds of others that Sikhs are foolish people.

b. Children in the schools and colleges suffered discrimination and their psychology is affected.

c. Young students in educational institutions get violent due to bullying.

​d. Cyberbullying is creating negativity for both i.e. the bully and the bullied i.e. victim and a person doing such activities affecting the performance of the students and all the employees in the workplace is who belong to the Sikh community.
