Older generations seem to have forgotten and hardly anyone in today’s generation knows about the significance of 14th April.

As the grand-nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, I would like all Indians to commemorate 14th April as Victory Day. It was on this day in 1944 that the Azad Hind Fauj gave India its first victory against the British Imperialist Forces.

The INA soldiers led by Col.Shaukat Ali Malik had captured Moirang in Manipur and half of Nagaland from the clutches of the British Empire. They had hoisted the national flag there.

This fact of history is not that well known and textbooks of modern Indian history completely obliterated the saga of the heroic battle of Imphal. It's time to change this.

While the rest of India may have forgotten, a small function is held at Moirang on 14th April every year.

I started this petition today because I believe that as our nation is celebrating its 75th year of Independence, it is imperative that in 2022, the Government of India along with the State Government of Manipur, give a befitting tribute to the soldiers and martyrs of the Azad Hind Fauj who brought freedom to India.

We owe it to the 26000 INA soldiers from different religions, castes and creeds who united for India and laid down their lives for her freedom. We owe it to their descendants who are among us today.
