A dowry is a transfer of parental property at the marriage of a daughter. It is a practice that should be banned in Pakistan as it has given rise to 2000 dowry-related deaths per year, and annual rates increasing 2.45 per 100,000 women from dowry related violence. It can draw many girls to suicide to save their parents from the burden of dowry, and not just that, it causes inferiority complex in girls as they measure their worth by the amount of dowry their family can afford. Many parents struggle to get their daughters married due to the pressure of dowry from the guy's family, and thus many label daughters as a "curse". This needs to stop NOW. You can HELP save those 2000 annual deaths. Sign the petition to take action.
