Road safety measures for Stuart Road Primary School Plymouth
Road safety measures for Stuart Road Primary School Plymouth
Stuart Road Primary, Plymouth is one of the only inner-city primary schools not benefitting from traffic calming and road safety measures to help keep school children and the local community safe.
Plymouth City Council (PCC) committed to making improvements by the end of April 2021, after months of pressure but has now announced these much needed and long overdue improvements will be delayed until autumn 2021.
Measures proposed by PCC include road markings to prevent parking obstructions, new signage and an enforcement camera to address illegal parking on the keep clear (yellow zig zags) on Palmerston Street.
This delay is unacceptable and means the risk of harm to pedestrians entering and leaving the school remains high.
A taxi reversed into a parent and their children several months ago (luckily not causing injury) and highlights the very real risk to the safety of pedestrians during school pick-up and drop-off times.
If you feel that this delay is unacceptable and want to see the proposed improvements carried out before the end of another academic year please sign this petition.
