It is important for the PUSD Board to postpone its decision to close any school or layoff employees at this time. There are too many conflicting opinions regarding the overall budget and what should be done in each community to plan for and address diminishing educational opportunities. The School District has sufficient reserves to postpone any major decision for another year. Although it is obvious and accepted that we have, and will continue to have, financial difficulties going forward, we feel our communites will deploy a short and long term plan that will better address these important issues. However, should any community's 7-11 committtee recommend consolidation and/or closure as a good faith attempt to begin addressing our problems, we will stipulate the PUSD Board to honor their request and take appropriate action.
