Why this petition matters

Started by Phil Hadley

United State Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse,

State Representative David Cicilline.

We are calling out to the below to follow rules you have set up in order to have housing for all residents of Rhode Island. These 19 below communities need to do their responsibility as a community to house residents.

To the City and Town Hall Councilors of the 19 communities not obtaining 10% Affordable Housing.

We as Rhode Islanders are in the mist of a housing crisis. Federal law states all cities and towns must have a 10% threshold of affordable community housing. Many cities and towns do not abide by this rule.

Simply put, this is a letter to each one of your representatives to make sure that every resident of Rhode Island has an opportunity for affordable housing AND that they will pledge to work on the 10% minimum requirement to supple affordable housing within their city or town.

Please sign this pledge as a person involved in a bigger community awareness project and send to your friends and family so we can make sure no one goes with out some sort of basic shelter here in Rhode Island.
