Associated British Foods, Suma and Tesco Withdrawn From the Boycott!

Anti Vivisection Coalition (AVC)

Oct 1, 2013 — AVC have today concluded discussions with Associated British Foods Plc - whose brands include Billington's and Silver Spoon - concerning the trapping of primates on Mauritian sugar plantations.

ABF have very strict policies concerning their suppliers treating people, animals and the environment with respect and this has been reflected in the today's conclusion to discussions. AVC are now in a position to confirm that ABF will not source sugar from Mauritian plantations involved in the capture of primates for vivisection.

As of today, AVC are officially withdrawing all Association British Foods brands - including Billingtons and Silver Spoon - from our Mauritian Sugar Boycott. Additionally, we are removing Suma and Tesco from the boycott as all their Mauritian sugar is purchased from ABF.

We thank ABF and Suma for their pro-active approach in dealing with our concerns and their leading policies on corporate-social responsibility.
