Once again the murderer of Anthony Ray Maynez is attempting to be released from prison.  We are scheduled to attend another parole hearing on October 8, 2020.  This is an ongoing and horrific victimization of the Maynez family.  Their are many inconsistencies in the transcripts of his previous five parole hearings showing that he lies and says whatever he thinks the parole board wants to hear to so he can get released.  The only true remorse he has ever shown is for himself because of his life behind bars.

On February 19, 1988, Joseph (Jerry) Mc Kray committed pre-mediated murder when he shot and killed Anthony Ray Maynez in cold blood. Jerry asked Anthony, who was not a friend but an acquaintance, for a ride to his girlfriends’ house. Anthony being the nice guy that he was said sure. Later that evening he picked up Jerry to give him a ride, unbeknownst to him, that Jerry had a plan to murder Anthony and then take his truck. Jerry shot Anthony in the head and killed him instantly. He then bragged about it to the neighborhood kids and had one of them hold the gun for him. He thought that Anthony might live to identify him so he fled to St. Louis but returned a few days later. Jerry confessed to the murder and was given 27 years to life.

We ask that the Parole Board please consider the pain and sorrow that Anthony’s family and friends have endured. Please consider that Jerry is a cold-blooded murderer and has never shown genuine remorse or taken serious responsibility for his actions. Jerry is a threat to the Maynez Family as well as the community at large, and we ask that he not be granted parole.
