Recognition of the Lighting Design profession especially in the International Year of Light 2015 - #LightUp2015
The United Nations (UN) General Assembly 68th Session proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL 2015). This International Year is the initiative of a large consortium of scientific bodies together with UNESCO, and will bring together many different stakeholders (...)
We are passionate about light and lighting, we share creativity, technological research, knowledge of art and architecture, the continuing education and the dissemination of the culture of light. Yet we are not identified, protected, listened to, or enhanced. We have no politics or trade union representation. Now many of us are in a tight spot to continue or defend our activities.
We are lighting designers.
We demand recognition of the strategic value of our profession especially in the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL 2015). We ask to meet as soon as possible with the Steering Committee of the IYL 2015 to propose an institutional face, a united front, so that Lighting Designers will have a Year of Light too. We need the commitment of our professional associations to identify initiatives to support them. We need the commitment of professionals to increase participation and contribute to the event.
Let's #LightUp2015 International Year of Light!
