On February 18th, 2016, the tenants of 441 Brooklyn Ave, a 68-unit rent stabilized building in Crown Heights, Brooklyn started a petition to get their landlords, Mike and Steve Spera, to build a desperately needed ramp for the building. The tenants gave their landlords a 60-day deadline (April 18th) to complete the ramp . Over 50 tenants signed the paper version of the petition which was mailed to their landlords. If the ramp is not installed by April 18th, the tenants intend to file a lawsuit with the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
Now they are asking for community members and the general public to join them in their struggle to have a ramp built.
