Please reconsider scheduled 2 hour delays

We are asking the board to consider doing away with 2 hour delays for superintendent conference time.  There are four and a half scheduled conference days already not including the 8 hours of delays.  In the 2018-2019 school year there are only 17 full weeks of school in which the children are scheduled to attend class for full days all five days, contrasted to the 24 weeks with scheduled time off already. This school year saw ten snow-days plus early dismissals and more delayed openings.  Six of these full weeks of school are in January and February so there will likely be even less classroom time.

While we appreciate that childcare has been provided there is no learning benefit to the students during this time, and it would be more be useful to have the aides be able to attend professional development as well, rather than provide babysitting funded by the tax payers.

We want the teachers to have the support they need, but want the board to recognize that professional development is for naught if the students are not spending time in class.
