Petition Closed

On September 2, 2008, Judge Brodbeck appointed a guardian-conservator for my mother who had stolen $50,000 in silver coins from my mother. Judge Brodbeck also ordered this guardian-conservator to keep my mother living in her own home, and not move her into the guardian-conservator's home. My mother has adequate financial resources to live in her own home and be cared for there. On the very same day the court order was issued, the guardian-conservator moved my mother into her own home permanently. My mother wanted to live in her own home. The court-appointed Visitor wrote in his report to the court that my mother should continue to live in her own home, and that she was angry about her silver coins being stolen by the person who would eventually be named as her guardian-conservator. I couldn't fight this in court because I had spent all of my money on legal fees trying to prevent the appointment of the guardian-conservator becasue I knew she would take my mother out of her home if she was appointed. After three years, my brother hired a lawyer and brought a motion asking that he be appointed guardian-conservator so that he could move my mother back into her home and arrange for care for her. During the hearing, Judge Brodbeck admonished the guardian-conservator for removing my mother from her home and moving her into the guardian-conservator's home, yet he denied my brother's petition and didn't order that my mother be returned to her own home to live. The judge also scolded my brother and I for sinning by not getting along with the guardian-conservator who had violated his court order by ripping our mother out of her own home she had lived in for 57 years. My brother's lawyer was utterly disgusted with Judge Brodbeck. This injustice is a travesty, and my mother should be restored to her home. Thank you for considering my request. Webb Cook
