Thank you for taking time to read our story. Our names are Ding, Joe and Jeff (Jian Chao Wu). We work together as carpenters, are close friends and business partners. We help each other; all want to achieve goals in life and always wanted to do business together. The opportunity has finally come; currently we are fitting out our first fruit and cheese tea shop, after work and on weekends. At the same time we are in trouble and face a critical situation as Jeff will be deported from Australia soon. We do need Jeff to oversee the business operations once it opens and he is still single, so he has more time to invest in the business, while Ding and Joe already have young families and children. We are liable for the lease and all business outgoings and to employ our staff. We will together stay strong to face the risks & challenges ahead of us from establishing a new business, but will be under severe financial stress (unable to run business) and suffer emotionally if Jeff is deported from Australia. We will open more shops if this shop is successful.
Jeff: I came out to Australia from China in 2005 when I was 13 & my brother was 16 years old, along with my parents, on my father’s 457 visa, during the mining boom in WA. During this time, we continually tried to gain our PR, but all relevant avenues failed. Unexpectedly my father suddenly suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2013. Prior to this he worked over 7 years as a full cook for long hours. His current health condition doesn’t need ongoing treatment & medication and he has recently undergone brain surgery as the first operation was not entirely successful. He intends to return to work after recovering from surgery. My mother works as cook and my brother works as a plasterer. My family are hardworking, law abiding citizens and contribute to Australian society. We have grown our roots and built our life in Australia where we have jobs and all of our friends. My brother Jason and I have grown up with Joe and another classmate from language school, through secondary college and now all work on building sites. We don’t know what our future holds if deported to China and will surely struggle to fit back into Chinese society after years of following the culture and values of Australia. My brother and I would struggle to find a job to support my father if we had to return to China. My family are grateful for the opportunity to come out to this country and have freedom and a great lifestyle here. Our dream is to stay in Australia for the rest of our lives.
Therefore we kindly seek your support by signing this petition requesting the Hon Peter Dutton MP & the Hon Alex Hawke MP to show compassion and reconsider the refusal decision in Jian Chao (Jeff) Wu family’s request for Ministerial Intervention and grant Permanent Residency.
Please help us by signing and sharing this petition. Thank you for your kindness!
