Please get Bacup's Coronation Fountain working again

The Coronation Fountain in the centre St James Square, Bacup, which was generously donated by the Bacup Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society in 1953 to commemorate the Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II, has not worked for over thirty years.
Bacup is currently benefiting from a £2 million Heritage Lottery Fund Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) which includes half a million pounds to be spent on public realm works in St James Square.
After having wasted thousands of pounds on trying to implement first a shared space scheme and then a twin mini round-a-bout scheme which both have had to be abandoned following massive public opposition, the Bacup THI Board are now claiming there is no funding available to reinstate the Coronation Fountain as a water feature for the new public realm scheme which retains the Coronation Fountain.
Bacup's Coronation Fountain is hugely important to local people and provides a welcoming iconic feature right in the centre of Bacup and we want it fully restored and working just as it should be.
