My name is Mrs. Annette Garland, Im requesting assistance.  My husband Leon Garland, who has served close to 50 years in prison,because no one in the justice system want to address wrongdoings that were made and have continuously been over looked. He was convicted of this crime along with TP. My husband has been yelling for decades for justice but his cries have fallen on deaf ears.                                                    He was arrested with a co-defendant, who at the beginning, made a statement Mr. Garland had nothing to do with the crime but this information has been withheld from trial and jury which doesn’t sound legal.  Actually, Mr Garland arrived on the scene to actually prevent a crime from even happening, but this too was omitted from the trial. Ultimately, he was charged with conspiracy to 1st degree murder based on a forced signed confession that was not his confession and TP took a plea deal which in and of itself was not truthful. Interestingly, when he testified he pleaded the 5th and Mr. Garland was told by the judge, which is recorded in documents, that TP is not part of the case.  If this is the case that TP was getting a deal on, 1st degree murder, and Mr. Garland was brought in on the same case and charged with conspiracy to commit murder but now TP isn’t  a factor on this case then who did Mr. Garland conspire this murder with then?? Why would he have to serve almost 50 years of a life sentence for a bogus charge and the other person that admitted to the crime, be free after serving significantly less time in prison?  Nothing makes sense and All of this is part of record that has been ignored for decades. Now its just impossible to get the justice system  to make their wrongs, right.  Mr. Garland is edging to his seventies now and We do not have the money and sometimes the energy or resources to keep fighting this case.  Sad to say, the attorneys just collect off my family and they don’t or won’t  do the work. 

Philadelphia has many Wrongfully Convicted Organizations.  One specifically at Temple University and there is the Criminal Integrity Unit with Krasner’s office.  But he claimed that there was no wrongdoing but they are investigating on the behalf of the Commonwealth.  I know that if it really had been investigated by a non- partial administration , all of this wouldve been shown.  There is no way that my husband had a fair trial.   I’m hoping that this petition for his freedom will move many to help our family. If he wins.., he gets to be a free man and to have his last years with his family.
