Wriglee Ewing started this petition to Pleasantville City Council

Pleasantville has a restriction on canine breeds that are classified as "dangerous." I'm wanting to change that. On January 19th, I will be at the city council meeting to do just that. I'm looking for signatures to help remove this ban from the city of Pleasantville, IA. Please help me in efforts to change the harsh labels on certain "breeds" and give a voice to those who don't have one.

”Pit Bull” is NOT a breed. It's a generic term often used to describe all dogs with similar traits and characteristics known to the public as "pit bulls." When we use the term “pit bull” here, it should be understood to encompass American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and mixes of those breeds.

Pit Bulls are very responsive to training and eager to please.  It is therefore strongly recommended to take them to obedience classes as soon as they are up to date with their shots.  A well-behaved and obedient Pit Bull will be a great ambassador for the breed and help fight prejudice and misconceptions.

Maybe instead of banning certain type of canines, we ban certain owners that don't have the ability to train or have the experience for the specific loving creatures.
