Attorney Elise Batsel and her clients, Cardel Homes and Heidt Design have requested to build 117 homes on the Strawberry Field off Wilder Road and Sam Allen Road. These will be new construction homes stacked on top of each other. The City of Plant City and the Planning and Zoning Division has failed to properly plan for more than 500 people in this area. The conditions of their plan do not include road development, sewage and water planning, power planning, EMS or police planning, etc. We cannot allow the City of Plant City to dump 117 homes and 500 people in an area that prides itself on its farmland and rural lifestyle. This “affordable housing” community will elevate crime rates, weaken the local infrastructure and change the culture of our community. The city is supposed to pride itself on preserving the agricultural land of our community and not continue to kneel down to these developers from Tampa, Miami, and Orlando. We care about the environment, local infrastructure, and protecting the rural community. We cannot allow the City of Plant City to approve this rezoning of agricultural landscape for 500 new residents until they plan properly. Let’s hold our elected officials accountable.
