The Everywun 10,000 Tree Challenge :)
My name is Dan and I'm the creator of Everywun. Usually, we send out a newsletter on Thursday, but today we're introducing a special challenge to speed up our impact on the world! But first, I want to take a second to say thank you.
Thank you! A few months ago, Everywun didn't exist. Today, with your help, we've given over 3800 meals to animals, given over 1500 meals to children, planted over 3,600 trees, given over 400 books to children, and given 36 malaria nets to families who need them. All with a small community of 6,000 - most of whom have joined us in the past 30 days!
What inspires me - and inspires our little Everywun team of four that puts up with me on a daily basis - is that if we can make this kind of impact with just 6,000 people, imagine what we can do when we grow to 60,000 or even 6,000,000. We can literally change the world!
But world change doesn't happen overnight. It happens because a community of people believe that they have the opportunity to make a difference even in the face of a world that's averse to change... and then they act to make it happen.
With this mind, I am so excited to introduce to you, Everywun's 10,000 Tree Challenge.
We'll plant 1 tree for every person who signs up between now and World Environment Day, on June 5th. When we reach our goal of 5,000 new users, one of our sponsors, Peanut Labs, will pay for another 5,000 trees to be planted for a total of 10,000!
Megan - our wonderful and dear community manager - has created a page further describing the challenge and offering fun, easy ways to spread the word. She has also made it even easily by creating sample messages that you can use on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, your website, or other services to get the word out. Check out our challenge page, and Megan's sample messages. http://story.everywun.com/10000-tree-challenge-cheat-sheet/
Also, if you have thoughts, questions, suggestions or ideas for achieving our goal of 10,000 Trees in the 30 days before World Environment Day, feel free to email me at email@example.com or Megan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Okay...so just one last thought (and then I promise I'm done): I spent most of my life believing that nobody was capable of making the kind of change that this world needs. A few years ago, I started believing that anything is possible. Over the last few months, our community has proven that a few people can make a huge difference. Now the only question left to answer is whether we can get the world to join in. And I believe - and the Everywun team believes - that we can, and we will.
Thanks for being a part of our community. Good luck with the challenge! :)
