Deny the rezoning application from Lingerfelt Development

Lingerfelt Development has filed an application on June 14, 2012 to rezone the open area across from Nuckols Farm Elementary School and next to Strange’s from class ‘A’ (single family) to several other classes, including R-6 (multi-unit residential).

While the development of this property is inevitable, there have been many concerns expressed about this proposal.

While each community may have different objections / priorities regarding the rezoning proposal, many neighbors share a concern about the 361 rental apartments and town homes proposed.

Much of the opposition to this rezoning application has been expressed by residents in the Nuckols Farm Elementary School district communities (including Graham Meadows, Gayton Station, Fox Hall and The Colonies) who are concerned about its potential impact on NFE enrollment, class size, traffic, and potential redistricting.

Currently, Nuckols Farm Elementary School has an enrollment of 553 students. It is unclear how many new students would need to be enrolled as a result of the additional 361 rental units that are being proposed.

Please note: This proposed development is on the south side of Broad Street, and it is in addition to the Attack development of 500+ residential units on the north side of Broad.
