Rothesay and the Isle of Bute are unique places which have faced many adversities, depopulation and urban decay. Now the town is being slowly regenerated yet we still appear to have little impact on how our surrounding environment is cared for. Important landmarks are being demolished and the known, valuable and recognizable structures that surround us are being lost forever. Places all over the world are known for their important buildings that stand out and attract others.

St Brendan's Tower stands as a beacon welcoming visitors and passers by to the beautiful Isle of Bute - visible from both land and sea, creates reflections in calm water while casting a mystical silhouette on foggy days...And now this tough survivor of the fire and neglect is due to be demolished and replaced with flats. It is not easy to incorporate old buildings into new structures but it can be done and many would love to see it happen.
