We people of Seymour are opposed to a Zone change that would allow a 3 story 90 unit apartment to be built overlooking Spring and Smith Street.
The Public Hearing will take place Thursday, October 10th at 6:30pm. We need your voice to urge the Planning & Zoning to vote "NO"
There is the potential for over 90 vehicles to now be added to these small side streets, Rt 67, and Pearl. We already know how every drives on these roads and the amount of traffic in the morning and later afternoon hours.
We'd appreciate your signature to tell our Planning and Zoning to vote "No" on this project.
While there is a the potential fear of overcrowding of our schools we are more concerned of adding in more cars into a residential community.
Our children play here, in our yards, walk the streets, and ride the bikes and scooters in family walks, walk to and from the the bus stops and we fight already to keep our roads safe and for drivers to follow the posted MPH signs. This 90 unit addition could put our kids at higher risk for an accident, walking up Walnut, Pearl, Spring, Smith, North St, Stoddard, Grand, and Day Street just to name a few.
This 3 story building is a shock to the community as we believe this will ruin our close knit neighbourhood, adding in 90 strangers that may make this their temporary housing for 1 or 2 years before the tenants find permanent housing elsewhere. There will be no sense of community left.
Other major concerns are:
There is an extremely old sewer system on Spring Street that is not 100 year rated
The devaluing of our homes
Wildlife altered forever
The majority of Seymour's Affordable Housing is all within 1/2 a mile from each other.
Don't forget to sign the petition and attend the Public Hearing Thursday Oct, 10th at 6:30 at the Town Hall.
Seymour is large and beautiful. We don't need to concentrate all the traffic and housing in one small area this side of the river.
