Planet Fitness closed the saunas and steam rooms in Level 3 lockdown in line with the government notice.We moved to Level 1 on the 1st March 2021 and while all other businesses have reverted to business within Level 1 protocols, Planet Fitness is still using Level 3 lockdown protocols to keep the saunas and steam rooms closed. Other gyms and clubs such as Virgin Active and the Johannesburg Country Club have reopened their saunas and steam rooms 
We ask that they reopen the Saunas and Steam Rooms in line with Level 1 protocols. Planet Fitness is using the excuse that they are waiting for direction from our government to amend the rules as if there is some special task force dedicated to checking whether saunas and steam rooms can reopen. It's ridiculous! We are in Level 1 so its logical that Level 1 protocols should be applied and the facilities reopened!
These facilities are an essential part of many gym member's experience. The health benefits are tremendous and many members come only to use the Steam Room and Sauna. The immune boosting benefits of hot / cold exposure are well documented and easily verified. The Sauna is also the safest environment in the gym since no virus can survive in the 80deg plus heat!
