Dzaleka youth congress is the organization that was founded at Dzaleka refugee camp by the students from JWL after getting the knowledge of leadership in community development, youth worker tracks and Diploma program with Regis University. It was created on September 20, 2015 with the vision of Uplifting the youths through their talents they have got. Today Dzaleka youth congress has extended to several parts of Malawi due to the activities implemented that aims to uplift people from Dzaleka and Malawi.
Youths from Dzaleka have been facing various social ills such as early marriages, high school dropout, and other related delinquency among others.
For a number of years, various efforts have been put in place to assist curbing the earlier highlighted vices. However, it has been proven that the said efforts have not been that effective.
Although that is the case, experience has shown that there is hidden culture the residents of the camp and other surrounding areas that lead to some of these vices and that barricades the development of the areas where they live. Under sound guidance, such culture, if shown to the people may assist in uplifting the status quo of the youths and even other community members in the camp and even around Malawi.
That is the reason why Dzaleka Youth Congress has organized an event day called “Dzaleka cultural fashion show” in order to allow everyone in Dzaleka and Malawi to show their culture in order to promote the co-existence among the residents of such settings.
