My name is Sydney Jagels. I am starting a petition for my Women's Studies class. The change I am wanting to make is putting more safety features around campus to stop the sexual assault that happens on a daily basis. Around 26% of all women and 8% of all men on campus are likely to be sexual assaulted during their time being a college student. My goal is to take this number down just one college at a time. 

Most assaults happen when the sun goes down. I think adding more lights and more emergency buttons around the whole campus would take this number down fast. Also, I got some help from a few students in class and they said having the campus police walking around the school instead of only driving through parking lots would make them feel safer. 

There are many ways to help both men and women feel safer on an everyday basis and this petition is my way of trying to make that change.
