Why this petition matters

Started by Travis Jones

The animal control came to my house Monday and gave my mother and a few other neighbors an ordinance paper and it wasn't even the right ordinance paper. That is not how you serve papers without going through the proper procedures. The Mayor, The Board Of Alderman, and The Animal Control are trying to enforce a Pitbull Ordinance that was supposedly voted on and passed on November 17th 2009. The Ordinance has not been enforced in 13 years by the Officials that voted it in or past City Officials that have held the Mayor's Seat and City Officials seats in the past. The current City Officials are trying to enforce a City Ordinance that has Discriminatory practices in it. I went to the Mayor's Office personally this morning to talk about the Pitbull Ordinance and he could not provide me with information about the Pitbull Ordinance. How Do you enforce an Ordinance when you don't even know what's in the Ordinance. I have read over the Ordinance myself. When this Ordinance was presented to the Board it targeted only one breed of dogs (Pitbulls). When you present an Ordinance you just can't targeted one aggressive breed of dogs you have to include all aggressive breed of dogs. When you present an Ordinance you just can't target one race of people you have to target all race of people. Everyone is suppose to be treated equally and accountable. There is no law that states a City Official can come onto your property without your consent and take and property of yours without your consent whether you are a bidding by the Ordinance or Not. The City can fine you for not a bidding by the Ordinance but has no rights to take your property without your consent. The only way a City Official is allowed to take your animal is you having one or more complaints against you, your animal is running free, and neglect towards your animal. The Ordinance states that you have to have 100,000 liability insurance policy. Aberdeen is a small retirement town there aren't any good jobs here like manufacturing companies and warehouse companies therefore half of the Citizens in this town don't even make a 100,000 a year. It also states you have to have a cinder block wall around your dog pen. To own a dog they have to be in a confinement area with walls sounds to much like prison make it make sense. The Ordinance states you have to spade or neutered your dog. I think it is the owner's choice if he or she wants to get there dog spade or neutered. The time frame that was given in the Ordinance was not giving the Citizens of the Town a equal time opportunity to comply with the City Ordinance.
