Karen Miller started this petition to Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery

We have been trying for years now to get the road repaired that leads to the Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery.   We have written letters to the Attorney General's office.  We have written senators, representatives, local congressmen, city officials, county officials and the governor.  We do not understand how we can have a beautiful cemetery with plots that have already been sold and still we have no access to these plots.  We have had funeral homes in the area to refuse to go up on the mountain due to the road conditions.  We have had family members having to pay out money for other plots to bury their loved ones.  Even though, they already had paid for plots in this cemetery.

We have had numerous letters from the Attorney General's office with different reasons each time for NOT repairing the roads.  (i.e.. Covid, no return calls, etc..)  We understand that some of the monies that are collected at the time of plot purchase goes to the Attorney General's office.  So doesn't this make it that offices job to see that the repairs are completed?  Everyone I have contacted says that it is "someone" else's place to see that this road gets repaired.

We the undersigned people are not going to go away and let this cemetery continue in this condition.  There is NO excuse for the cemetery to not have a paved road.  Loads of gravels put on the side of a mountain (to wash off the first rain) would be like putting a Band-Aid on someone after surgery.  This is no way to run a business.  Especially since this is the final resting place for our loved ones.

I buried my Mom six months ago.  My Dad had to part with his partner of 59 years.  It was the hardest thing my family has had to do.  But now, to not even be able to visit her grave is just another terrible loss.  So I am not going to go away or just let it go.  I am here until it is repaired.  Thank you!!
