ORTING!  YOUR DRINKING WATER IS AT RISK!  Mike Piland wants to put SOLID WASTE on top of your water!

Verified by Pierce County records-- Azure Green Consultants (on behalf of Logbrook LLC, Mike Piland, & other investors) have submitted to Pierce County to lift a 6 year development moratorium on several parcels (totally almost 100 acres) to begin the permit process to import SOLID WASTE and export gravel from the top of Fisk Road. Allowing this would jeopardize Fiske Creek, the Puyallup River, our aquifer, wells, and the City of Orting’s spring fed water tower on Fisk Road. In addition, permitting a quarry at this location where soils have been identified as “highly erodible”, having a “moderate, severe, and very severe erosion hazard”, and with an already “actively raveling slope”, is negligent and irresponsible with recent quarry involved landsides. Further, adding any more additional truck traffic to Orville Road & Highway 162 (on top of an already expanding Washington Rock Quarry), with no road improvements scheduled, puts too many drivers and residents lives at risk!

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our city and county leaders to act now to protect the water supply for the City of Orting and surrounding area, to eliminate the threat of an Orting Valley Landslide, and to protect Highway 162/Orville Road drivers and residents. We ask that Pierce County DO NOT remove the development moratorium and DO NOT allow permitting for the Logbrook/Barker project!
