As a city and as queer communities, we have a long way to go in curbing racism, transphobia, sexism and violence that greatly impact vulnerable members of our communities as well as affecting people with more privilege, too.

It was police violence that precipitated the Stonewall Rebellion. They are murdering Black and Brown youth today. They have no right to be in our pride parade ever!

Having police as Grand Marshals of a Pride march, when the origin of this march is rooted in an anti-police rebellion is beyond insulting and a slap in the face to Black LGBTQ people everywhere.

The history of Pride, having grown out of a riot against police violence and oppression is inherently antagonistic to having the police act as grand marshals.
