Thomas Whitham Sixth Form is currently proposed for closure. By signing this petition you will give students and their families the much needed support they deserve.

The main objectives of the petition are  –

1)     To state your objection to the proposed closure.

2)     To request a more appropriate timescale for consultation with all parties regarding the schools future.

3)     To highlight the outstanding level of education currently being received by students.

4)     To highlight the lack of options for Burnley post 16 students, should TWSF close.

Thomas Whitham Sixth Form, located on Barden Lane in Burnley opened its doors as part of the Burnley Learning Partnership initiated by the Building Schools for the Future Project. They work collaboratively in order to raise achievement and aspiration, increase participation of post 16 students and create an ethos for lifelong learning.

The closure of the Sixth Form will severely compromise options for post 16 students in the Burnley area. A dedicated A-level provider, Thomas Whitham Sixth Form means more to its students than just a good quality education. Smaller class sizes and a community atmosphere are integral to their success. There are no other providers nearby that can offer the same experience.
