Ecstasy. Meth. Ketamine. Marijuana. Cocaine.
Drugs. Party drugs.
These type of drugs are often used during parties as it intensifies the emotions of the user, relieves them of stress, and overall causes them to have more fun at parties. Unfortunately, these party or recreational drugs are mostly acquired by young people ages 21 below. This is a dangerous track to take as these adolescents are still developing, and these recreational drugs have adverse effects on their growth and development. The effects range from nausea, hallucinations, long term memory loss, and even severe brain damage. The big question is…..
Why do these young people still acquire and use recreational drugs which may ruin their well-being, and ultimately, their lives? According to a study by Demant (2010), the youth who use party drugs in clubs, say that their drug use is not at all problematic. In addition, they have considered their drug use to find and get pleasure, and they have considered this activity as an activity for leisure purposes. In addition, a news article from South China Morning Post, according to the 2012 Central Registry of Drug Abuse (CRDA), the reason for teens to engage in party drugs are stress, boredom, peer pressure and curiosity.
"However, this may not be the only reality faced by the part-going and fun-loving youth. Boredom alleviation and enjoyment may be received in less risque or illegal ways through smooth social interactions and quality time with peers. Don't rely your "hype" on powders, pills or plants. The fun starts with you.
