I am urging my fellow Philippine nurses and all nurses around the world to unite and support my petition to stop the violence and aggression to all nurses and allied health workers. As an RN, I am pushing this petition to bridge the gap between our chosen vocation that we have learned to love and the society's norm and mentality about the nursing profession. We, nurses, often experience physical altercations and verbal abuse in every shifts perpetrated not only by patients but by relatives and visitors as well. However, as a professional, we are expected to uphold the highest ethical conduct. I myself feel so frustrated with repeated challenges hammering my colleagues. The apathy is reverberating. As a nurse, we are taught how to be more compassionate and empathic not just to our patients but to the entire workplace or hospital as well, and yet here we are again at the very same avenue to express injustices, God knows when we will be heard. Hence, I am appealing to the government or whoever is eager to help to conduct a fair and thorough investigation regarding this recent violence against a nurse in Balamban, Cebu. By that we can further zero in the root of this recurrent incident.
